2021 Toyota Avalon
Toyota’s flagship sedan, the 2021 Avalon, has a muscular exterior, but it’s a huge softie on the inside. Based on the mid-size Camry, the full-size Avalon comes with a V-6 or hybrid engine, front-wheel drive, and a large, all-day comfy interior. It has a complete suite of driver-assistance technologies as standard and most of the infotainment elements that contemporary drivers need without being too complex. For those of us who still prefer a big sedan over a tall-riding SUV, there are just a few options left, including the Chrysler 300, Nissan Maxima, and Volkswagen Arteon, and there will be one fewer after this year when the Avalon goes away.
What Is New in 2022?
Toyota has made minimal modifications to the Toyota Avalon for 2022, and the company has stated that this model year will be the last for the big sedan. The production of the Avalon will cease in August 2022, so if you want to park a new Avalon in your driveway, the countdown clock has begun. Buyers will be unable to choose the formerly available all-wheel-drive system for Avalon’s last model year, and the sportier TRD variant will also be withdrawn. The Hybrid XSE model is no longer available without the Nightshade aesthetic option, and all versions include a new rear-seat reminder function. The vehicle’s driver-assistance technologies have also been improved, with a more sophisticated camera- and radar-based collision avoidance systems.
Given its extensive list of standard amenities, we believe the Avalon’s basic XLE model will appeal to a wide spectrum of vehicle buyers. The external features of the XLE include heated power-adjustable side mirrors and LED headlights. Dual-zone automatic temperature control, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering column are all standard. All Avalon sedans have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio, as well as driver-assist technologies like blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.
